The Third Eye. The Eye of Horus. The Seat of the Soul. These, along with the pineal body, conarium or epiphysis cerebri, are all different names for the same thing: the mysterious pineal gland. A small endocrine gland in the brain, the pineal gland produces melatonin, a hormone that affects the modulation of sleep patterns in the circadian rhythms and seasonal functions. But some believe that it is much more than that.
This week on One Cell One Light Radio, Dr. Hildy welcomes returning guests Rick Dubov and Veronica Hendricks to discuss the Cosmic Egg myth and its link to the pineal gland.
The cosmic egg is a mythological motif found in the creation myths of many cultures and civilizations. Typically, the egg is a beginning of some sort, and the universe or some primordial being comes into existence by “hatching” from the egg, sometimes lain on the primordial waters of the Earth. Many ancient mythologies include an idea of a cosmic egg, including Egyptian, Greek, and Phoenician. The currently most popular theory of creation, the Big Bang Theory, is an example of a cosmic egg myth: the universe coming into being through the “hatching” of an egg, in this case the entire mass of the universe that was compressed into a gravitational singularity from which it expanded to its current state.

This week on One Cell One Light Radio, Dr. Hildy pays tribute to a very special person.
We were saddened to learn this week that our friend, Charles Berliner, has passed away.
A veteran of set and costume design for film, television and theater, Mr. Berliner spent more than four decades in show business, working on some of the most acclaimed productions of his time, as well as serving for 28 years as the Western Regional Representative of the legendary National Entertainment Industry Union, United Scenic Artists, Local USA 829, IATSE.
Coming from an entertainment family, Mr. Berliner followed his mother, a concert pianist at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco as well as a Broadway singer and his aunt, a vaudeville performer who shared the stage with Gracie Allen into show business, getting his start as a dancer in San Francisco. He became interested in stage design at the tender age of 10, after seeing the original stage production of My Fair Lady with Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews. Careful study of the production led him to figure out how the production used multiple stages to quickly change scenes, and Charles was immediately drawn to the theater. Unlike most, his interests lied not in being on stage, but rather designing them.Read the rest of this entry →
