Food. One of the greatest things ever invented. Not only does it supply us with the energy needed to sustain our body, in the right hands it can be one of the most pleasurable experiences known to man. We gather to eat together, we have an entire television network devoted to it and there are more restaurants than there are schools in the US. What we eat is important. And in the race to ensure we have enough food, some companies have taken to changing the genetic structure of our food to make it feed more people, or even more aesthetically pleasing. But what dangers does this hold?

This week on One Cell, One Light Radio, Dr. Hildy welcomes returning guest Rosalind Peterson, the California President and co-founder of the Agriculture Defense Coalition to discuss GMOs, or genetically modified organisms, and their manufacturers.
A few corporations, in order to control our food supplies and the types of food we eat, are genetically modifying the foods we eat. Transgenic alternations, in which one or more genes of another species are incorporated into other plants or animals, was first introduced in 1986. Since then many plants or plant products, like soybeans, corn, canola, cotton, cotton seed oil and beets have been engineered for a variety of reasons, most of them relating to seed control, which crops are produced, limiting the abundance and types of food and seeds available to the public, and for controlling our food supplies.
